I liked the characters in the book. The story had a good twist when the body discovered was not the body expected. I thought the lead characters personal life and work life weaved together nicely. I will read another by this author.
Although I didn't enjoy this sequel (or second outing) as much as I enjoyed my introduction to de Jonge's NYPD detective heroine, there is no denying that both character development and plot advancement are the author's strengths. You will whiz through his novels and wish there were more to read!
I found out about this book after reading a review for it in our local paper. As a native New Yorker, I had to read it. The story line was so interesting and the places mentioned in the book were in areas that I was familar with. Great story line. I really enjoyed this book.
I appreciate a good mystery where the words keep me turning the page. There was a lot of paragraphs about the detective's drinking problems and her relationship with her son - not interesting and no mystery. The mystery felt like only a secondary part of the book. It was one of those books I found my self skimming to get to the next thing that caught my interest.
This murder mystery captured my interest.It was full of interesting characters. There were many twists to the story that kept you guessing to the end.
The plot is full of holes and impossible coincidences but the characters! My personal favorite was the ninety year old slut.
Quirky, witty, funny and impossible to put down. A new and captivating premise well written. Darlene has a great sense of humor.
